Bowers from Orderville, Utah
Received a copy of this photo from Nathele King Bowers.
This line of Bowers is through James Bowers and Mariah Lay's son, Isaiah Bowers (1846-1926). On FamilySearch, this photo is posted and the people are identified as seen in Isaiah Bowers' photos (KWZ9-VGD). The united order was successfully practiced in Orderville.

Eantley, confirmed 29 Jul 1977 by Bp. Thorne. On page 87 of same
record, rebaptism listed as 3 Nov 1891 by John Y. Smith, confirmed 5 Nov
1891 by Wm. McLachlen. "Removed to 4th Ward 13 Apr 1895". IGI lists
baptism date as 11 Apr 1992 Jrive. Anc File lists as 27 Jun 1868.
IGI Addendum lists baptism as 16 Apr 1993 JRIVE.
!ENDOWMENT: EH Bk. F-340 (film #183,405). Endowment record of John
Shadrich Bowers was checked more than once. His name is John Chadwick
Bowers. In several records his name was found spelled "Shadrack" and
"Shedrick". He was named for the "Shadrach" in the Bible, so family
records use that spelling. He was endowed at age 15, which was verified
in EH records Oct 1956. IGI Addendum lists endowment date as 7 sep 1993 JRIVE.

!DEATH: Utah death certificate #193 (film #26,567) lists death 31 Jan
1934, age 80 years 11 months 4 days. Cause listed as arteriosclerosis,
high blood pressure, chronic myocarditis. Residence at 180 East 17th
South, Salt Lake City. Informant Rose B. Buchanan.
!DEATH: Obituary Deseret News Thursday, 1 Feb 1934 Pg. 3 lists death
"late Wednesday"; age 80, "pioneer contractor and builder", died at home
of his son, Louis J. Bowers, 180 East 17th South. Survived by six sons
and two daughters, 24 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 brother.

!OTHER: Family history compiled by granddaughter Ruth Bowers Robertson
states that their first home was 452 South 1st West in Salt Lake City.
"They also took up a 'homestead' in Baccus, Utah (near Bingham). Esther
spent some time there with her young children Rose and John D., Father
John S. joined them there on weekends." In about 1895 John S. moved the
family to 1076 South West Temple into a new home. This was their
residence the rest of the time.
